Privacy Policy

Version 1 · September 2026

This policy explains what PowerHop collects about you, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have. It covers the PowerHop app at app.powerhop.ng, the PowerHop Unit installed at your address, and this website.

What we collect

When you sign up and subscribe, we collect your name, email address and phone number; your installation address; and an identity document (NIN, passport or driver's licence) used to verify who you are and that your address can be served. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google.

Once a PowerHop Unit is installed, it reports its operational data to us continuously: battery state, load, grid presence and faults. It also reports its own location continuously. We do not collect the location of your phone.

When you pay, your payment is processed by our payment providers. We keep the record of what you paid and when; we do not store your card details.

If you leave your email address on this website to be notified at launch, we use it for that one email and nothing else.

Why we collect it

To run and protect the service: to verify you at onboarding, to deliver power to your address, to detect faults and honour our swap guarantee, to protect the Unit, which PowerHop owns, against theft, to bill you, and to support you when you contact us.

Who we share it with

Our payment, identity-verification, IoT-cloud, email and hosting providers, each only to the extent needed to do their job for us. Our servers are hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, so some of your data is processed outside Nigeria. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account with us and as long afterwards as the law requires us to keep records, for example of payments. If you register but never become a customer, we delete what we hold about you after a limited period.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you can ask to see the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, withdraw a consent you have given, and complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. To exercise any of these, email support@powerhop.ng. To delete your account, see /delete-account.

Monitoring consent

Continuous monitoring and location reporting of the Unit, and PowerHop's ability to switch it off remotely, are a condition of the service; you agree to them separately in the app before you pay. You can withdraw that consent at any time, but because the service cannot run without it, withdrawing ends the service and the Unit is collected.
